Coleman 9949 750 Road Trip Grill Red

Take the convenience, efficiency, and versatility of the household barbecue grill on the road this summer with the clever Roadtrip Grill LXE from Coleman. Whereas other portable liquid propane grills are petite and tabletop in design, the Roadtrip LXE is a full-size grill with collapsible scissor legs for countertops or travel. This 36-inch grill features 285 square inches of cooking space, ideal for toting to the beach or just into the driveway a small block party. Two 10,000 BTU burners cook meats evenly. Independent control knobs allow users to adjust temperatures on either burner for flexibility.

The grill comes equipped with two warp-resistant cast-iron grill grates, coated in porcelain for cleaning convenience. Two side tables attach to the grill’s sides for extra preparation space and store neatly under the grill. A grease tray catches drippings, sliding out for cleaning. The grill is outfitted with an Instastart electronic ignition. The grill affixes to a standard 16.4-ounce disposable propane cylinder, or can be hooked up to a 20-pound tank with an additional accessory purchase. Burning on high with a propane cylinder, the grill operates for 2.1 hours, while low settings allow operation for up to 4.5 hours. A heavy-duty vitreous lid cased in painted steel contains flames to reduce hazard while barring access to bugs and debris. The collapsible legs feature two wheels on one end and a wide handle on the other for towing. To clean the cooking surface, use mild detergents and avoid steel wool. Coleman offers several interchangeable Roadtrip cooking surfaces, including a stovetop and griddle, for separate purchase. This grill requires assembly. Coleman offers a limited five-year warranty for this item. Collapsed, the grill measures 36 by 22 by 13 inches with a shipping weight of 60 pounds. Propane is not included. –Jessica Reuling

3 Stars Some things to consider
I bought this grill based on all the reviews I read..however,there are a few areas i was surprised.

1. The guy that mentions beware when cooking bacon is right..I cooked hamburgers, sausages and to my surprise the grease i figured would all go down to the little plastic tray underneath the unit (most did) but some actually would drip into the burners 4 holes in the top. To clean that you have to remove all the screws for the top and you still cant get it all. So i concluded that from now on i will use a pan with the stove insert like a regular stove top, you just spend way to much time cleaning up otherwise. It took 15-20 min to cook..cooks great but the danger of a grease fire is real and the cleanup took about 30 min.

2. Even with non stick cooking spray the end result of using it like a grill is that you have burnt food like concrete on the grill insert because its not designed like a typical grill. It has in the center (where the burner would be under it) an solid area (obviously to protect grease from getting into the burner…failed) where any food just collects and burns no matter how you prepare and has to be chiseled of (im my case with a butter knife..just to loosen it)

other than those things this grill heats up super fast and i have yet to turn it past the lowest setting…but the clean up..omg pretty much sums it up. Trust me and get the stove top accessory with a good pan and save all the major clean up troubles.

4 Stars Cute BBQ….
We bought this BBQ when we first set out RVing fulltime. It served it’s purpose for awhile, and also looked great! On the road one day, the top came off and we managed to lose it….wasn’t much good after that! Our next BBQ was the Weber Baby Q, which we found we liked much more!

4 Stars Excellent!!
We had been looking at the Roadtrip grill for some time for camping. We camp frequently and packing the grill & stove and the table we had to set them on was becoming cumbersome. We finally purchased this grill (we knew we wanted one with wheels) and we are so happy we did! It is fantastic!! It is easy to pack, easy to clean, easy to move around, and having a grill & stove all in one is very very convenient. We have even used it when we needed an additional grill for BBQ’s at our home. We highly recommend this grill!

4 Stars great portable grill
we just purchased this grill and so far we love it i will have to report back after some time its easy to take in the road we have used it at the park it was great not having to carry charcoal we purchased propane gas canister 2 for $6 at lowes the cooking area is spacious we cooked carne asada, hot dogs and toasted some chiles for chiles rellenos it worked great easy to clean up as another user suggested we only cooked on medium i think that was more than enough heat and no the handle did not melt

my only complain is that it did not come with the storage bag the latch does seem very cheap

5 Stars Amazing!
I bought this grill for camping. I read the reviews, over and over, and over again, before deciding to buy it. I’m so glad I did. It grills great, and with the stove and griddle accessories, it’s amazing! It gets very hot very fast. I also got the attachment for the big propane tank. This grill is amazing. That you can’t grill with the top down isn’t an issue for us.

As a stove, it’s just like being at home! And the griddle accessory is great too.

It’s starts right up with the push of a button. Cooks well, and clean up was easy. It’s great that it has its own stand, moving it is a breeze.

Get the cover that goes with it. It holds the grill and all the accessories.

If your looking for a great portable grill, this is it! It’s amazing!

Coleman 9941 768 Road Trip Grill Blue

September 22nd, 2009

Coleman 9941 768 Road Trip Grill Blue

Tired of taking your funky hibachi to the ballpark every time you want to tailgate? Turn to the Coleman Road Trip Grill, an authentic open-flame grill that packs up compactly for easy transport and storage. The Road Trip Grill offers two powerful, fully adjustable 20,000 BTU burners, along with support for several mix-and-match cooking surfaces, including a drip-through grill, a pancake griddle, and a stove for heating water (the latter two are separately). In addition, the burners are powerful enough for both cold-weather and high-altitude cooking, so you can use the Road Trip Grill in destinations like Green Bay, Denver, and Buffalo, N.Y. Perhaps the coolest feature, however, is the collapsible frame, which holds the grill at a standard cooking level in its open position, but folds up in seconds when it’s time to go. There’s no easier way to enjoy the versatility of a full-size upright grill and the convenience of a portable unit.

The grill offers a collapsible frame for easy transport.

The Road Trip Grill also includes two detachable side tables for grilling and cooking duties, along with a lockable lid for security. Other details include a 285-square-inch cooking surface, convenient storage hooks for cooking utensils, a removable grease drip pan, and easy pushbutton ignition. The grill–which operates on a single disposable 16.4-ounce propane cylinder (not included) or a 20-pound propane tank (purchase of tank hose and tank required)–carries a five-year limited warranty.

Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957–the birth of the modern cooler–and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

5 Stars “Product Feature” incorrect
This grill comes with a grill on one side and a griddle on the other which is great. If you want a all grill surface or a all griddle surface you have to order another grill and another griddle.

The grill does not come with “porcelain-coated cast-iron grates”. It comes with a aluminum grill and a aluminum griddle. Don’t order a cast iron grill and griddle like I did. I can’t imagine trying to cook a bunch of steaks on a grill that is half cast iron and the other half aluminum. I sent the cast iron grates back and ordered aluminum grates.

With the two burners, and two griddles, you can have one side at a low temperature for cooking eggs and the other side high for cooking bacon and frying potatoes. I love it!

5 Stars keep on cooking
easy to set up and move, and cooks great. set up in a field at bike race and was still very stable. A great buy.

4 Stars just fine
Works fine. Operates as expected based on Amazon reviews I read prior to purchase (thanks). Clean-up is easier than anticipated. Hooked up to a large propane tank, a change that is worth the effort.

5 Stars Best portable grill in town
Ordered this grill for portability and quality and it fit both needs. You won’t be disappointed with this product.

4 Stars love it…. but should have shopped around
my only negative comment is that I found the item in a local Sporting Goods chain for 40 dollars less… so I basically paid for shipping even though it was “free super saver shipping.”

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars I like it
Product itself is pretty great. One of the plastic handles was broken when it arrived, I didn’t bother doing anything about it because it seemed like more hassle then it was worth.

The handle/tray that you’re intended to pull it with doesn’t seem very sturdy so I don’t use it, I just fold it in and use the black plastic handle. Make’s it kind of difficult to use the wheels, but I really think the other part would break eventually.

I don’t know if you can use a 20lb propane tank with it, but the small green ones last me long enough. Hope they get recycled.

5 Stars Outstanding
I purchased this to replace the grill that came with my travel trailer. I recieved it opened the box and my 5 year old daughter and I assembled it in about 20 minutes. Most of the assembly we did without the aid of the instructions which are more than easy to follow (I checked after to make sure we got it right).

The quick connect fitting on my trailer wasn’t compatible with the extend a hose kit I bought with the grill so I simply “parted out” the old grill and now it works wonderfully as I intended.

As for it use, we took it from the box to the trailer and left for a two week trip to the Canadian Maitimes. The grill fed us each night with absolutely no problems. It has ample heat, it’s easy to clean, easy to set up and the wind dosent blow out the burner ever (this was the reason for replacing the old grill).

I give this grill 5 stars and I personally feel that it earned each and every one! For the price you can’t go wrong! The biggest surprise I had was that I didn’t think it would be as large as it is. I had previously been looking into the Coleman Road Trip grills and assumed it would be the same size. Much larger. It didn’t fit in the storage compartment I had planned but I had plenty of room for it anyhow!

Great Grill, I would buy another and would reccommend it to a friend. In fact I will brag it up on the RV message board I belong to.

3 Stars Get what you pay for
I just finished assembling my “Grill 2 Go”. No problem, however, some parts are secured in plastic – DON’T OVER TORQUE. The igniter on one side doesn’t work, not sure yet why. May just be too far from the burner surface to arc. There is a chip on the lid under the glaze. Packaging good so must just be QC. Grill material is CHEAP!!! Hope there’s an upgrade. Lot’s and lot’s and lot’s of plastic. Not too sure about lonegevity. All that said, the design is great [a wanted a portable I could use day-to-day as well] and I feel I got a lot for under $200. The griddle is neat and offers one a lot of flexibility. Grease tray sticks going in and out. Don’t recommend using it while grease is still hot liquid.

If I was just starting my search, think I’d spend a few more dollars on something beter.

1 Star junk
arrived broken in 7 places the 1st time… and the parts that were broken off were not in the box – so it was broken before it left manufacturer…. called char-broil – they wanted so send me the disassembled parts… of what amounted to the entire bbq piece. told them i bought an assembled bbq and shouldn’t have to put together another one from parts because of their faulty quality control. called amazon and was immediately sent a new one… broken in 4 places… gave up – sent that one back. amazon stated they were removing it from the site due to quality issues – but i saw it still there the next few days. bought a camp chef instead – heavier but built like a tank and 30,000 btu PER burner.

4 Stars Good product
I purchased this grill mostly for use at tailgating. Used it once so far. Heats up quickly and is easy to use. While it works well, it is rather large and heavy.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Awesome
Though this stove takes up a good bit of space in the back of my Jeep, it’s well worth it when you can get up in the morning( a windy one at that) and cook eggs, bacon, and…..make coffee!!!!! I had a two burner one, also great quality, but sold it to get this one. Very happy with my choice. It has the same great construction features and simple reliable function that my dads always had. I expect this one to be given to my kids when I get some. I like the liquid fuel over the propane because it is cheaper, and it uses the same fuel as my coleman lanturn. Also in a pinch you can use gasoline(would be great in a survival/emergency situation). Besides the extra size it takes up when packing, the only thing I don’t like is there is no way to drain all the fuel out the tank when you want to store it. You could siphon it…I guess. I never did read the instructions either. Anyway, great reliable coleman product.

3 Stars Coleman dual fuel stove
When I ordered this burner, the description said “dual fuel”, but did not state which two fuels could be used. I thought it would be propane or the Coleman liquid fuel. I was wrong…….it actually was coleman liquid fuel or UNLEADED GASOLINE. Of course we did not want to cook with gasoline. My husband went to Wal-Mart and was able to buy everything he needed to convert the burner to propane at a cost of $50.00.

We are now using the burner and are happy with it, just wish we had know in advance that we would have to spend an additional $50.00 to get it working for us.

4 Stars Years of Killer Breakfast!
My dad and I have been going camping since I was 5 years old. I am now 26 and we still go to the same lake every summer. We have had this style Coleman stove for as long as I can remember. My dad actually had this stove before I was born. It is still going strong today! Although it is a little beat up and after cleaning it with a stove cleaner (all the green paint is gone) it still works like new. I highly recommend this stove to the camping enthusiast! Enjoy your killer breakfast as we have for 20+ years!

4 Stars Good stove for large group
I took this stove on a 3-day Boy Scout campout. It was easy to light and use. No real problems. I only have a couple of hang-ups. The fuel vaporizer feeds the middle burner and the other two burners feed off of the middle one. Consequently, the two side burners don’t heat with the same BTU’s as the middle one. This comes into play when you have a wide pan covering two burners… one side will be hotter than the other. It wasn’t too difficult to work with that but I thought I’d put it down. The other thing is that if you spill anything, it will go under the burners (of course) and is hard to clean. Not a big deal really. Just be more careful. The fill hole in the tank is small so bring a funnel if you don’t want white gas all over your hands.

The stove was light and took a beating for three days with no issues. We were all well fed! I liked having the 3 burners to cook with two and have coffee going on the third. We also used it to heat water for doing the dishes afterwards while still cooking or keeping food warm. That was quite handy. Coleman white gas is cheap and clean. The stove is easy to use and the Coleman company wisely stenciled the lighting instructions on the lid knowing that the instructions would never make it to the campsite. (Good call on their part!) In case you’re wondering… the advantage of liquid fuel over propane is that if you’re in a very cold environment, propane won’t vaporize to fuel the burner. White gas will even when well below freezing. I would have given it 4.5 stars but that’s not an option.
