4 Stars Electric Barbecue Grill

Gas grills are not allowed in my high rise condominium building, and neighbors who have electric grills don’t get enough heat for good grilling. This one does. In fact, if I operate it full blast with the lid closed, the temperature can get up close to 600 degrees.

5 Stars Wow!!
It’s a Weber so I expected it to be good but this grill is fantastic! I have a balcony where I can’t have a gas or charcoal grill but I was skeptical with all bad things I’ve heard about electric grills. I love to grill so after 3 mos. of looking I finally decided to order. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. I’ve had it 1 wk. and grilled hot dogs, chicken and steak…all were great. The steaks sizzled and seared on the grill. Luv it!!

5 Stars Best electric ever
We have been through many grills through the years, and grill 3-5 days per week. Apartment living reduced that, because the products we tried just could not do the job very well.

For those stuck in an apartment where gas grills are not allowed (no open flames on patios or balconies), this is the best I have seen for emulating a real charcoal grill. We used a Weber gas grill (Go-Anywhere portable) for seven years when traveling th country in an RV, so we were familiar with the company and its products. When we owned a house, we bought a new gas grill every couple of years, staying on the low end of the price range, never springing for a Weber.

The Weber Q-140 electric is the best (and most expensive) we have ever had. The heat is uniform (no hot or cold spots), the heat is sufficient that I can sear anything, and create a criss-cross griddle pattern for show and even cooking. Clean-up is a snap, and the exterior of the grill is not too hot if you accidently lay a hand on it. Like all Weber products, it is exceptionally well designed, and well made.

My biggest concern was the price ($279 list, ~$230 street). When Amazon put it on sale at $191, including shipping, I immediately placed my order. It came complete – the only assembly was attaching the lid handle and the lid, about two minutes effort.

Absolutely no regrets.

5 Stars Great Customer Service from Weber
First of all, this little grill is excellent! A little pricey, but as my dad always told me “You get what you pay for.” It grills perfectly. It is relatively easy to clean and reline with aluminum foil. But most importantly, it really does cook food exactly as the instructions recommend and the finished product is impressive…fish, chicken, turkey/organic beef, fruit, veggies, sausages…..REALLY it is foolproof! And it’s cute, looks kind of like a space pod.

Now to the title of this review…I had trouble with the heat gauge. Weber sent me an entire new assembly, no questions asked, and didn’t even ask me to return the defective one. No cost for replacement or shipping and it arrived within 48 hours. Now that is what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

5 Stars Weber Q-140 – Surpassed My Expectations!
Last year we moved out of our house and onto a 60 foot motoryacht. The thing that I really missed was grilling (can’t use gas or charcoal grills on a boat in our marina). I was skeptical about buying an electric grill because of the bad reviews that my friends gave regarding the quality of the grills they had. I read the reviews on the Weber Q-140 electric grill and decided to try it. It surpassed all of my expectations! It heats up quickly, produces substantial heat, and the heavy duty stainless steel grilling grids produce great “grill marks”. Although it is small in total grilling area – the results are exceptional. It does a great job on steaks, ribs and chicken. Clean-up is fast and easy – the fat/grease flows into a disposable drip pan and the reflector under the cooking grid slides out for cleaning. I would definitely recommend this grill for anyone living on a boat or in an apartment/condo that prohibits gas/charcoal grills!

4 Stars Wish to top fit better
This is a replacement for another (not stainless) smoker. It is as advertised, quite easy to assemble, however, the cover should fit more snuggly as to retain more of the heat. Other than that – a fine unit.

3 Stars Good, but…
This pulls some serious electricity — it runs off a 1000-plus-watt element — and in my house, it causes breakers to switch off. I eventually converted this to a charcoal smoker (Meco sells a kit to do this). This really shouldn’t be a problem in newer houses.

At this price, though, I’d have to look hard at a Weber Smoky Mountain cooker. It’s not stainless but it is enameled steel and it comes with a cover — it should last for years and years, if not decades and decades. It also has superior heat control (this Meco unit, like many water smokers, has no controllable vents). I’ve made some very good BBQ with this Meco but it does require a lot more attention than my Smoky Mountain. I use this at big BBQs when I often will fire up this, plus a Weber, plus a big barrel grill.

5 Stars Bought as a gift
I use a charcoal smoker, but bought this for my father who really wanted the electric version. After a lot of trying, I could not convince him that an electric smoker was just a big old crock pot. He’s glad he held out. He called me after using it and was thrilled with the results.

Brownie points from dad are always a great thing!

3 Stars Fine for most people most of the time…
I’ve owned and used both the black steel model (5030) and this stainless one (5029). There are 2 things missing on the stainless model that my black 5030 had: 1) There are no dampers in the lid to help regulate smoke/heat and 2) The body does not rotate a few degrees and come up-off the base. You have to reach down in this model to clean the pan around the element and empty ashes. I miss both of these features.

Tips:

–Soak wood chunks overnight, at a minimum. As soon as you open the lid to take food out or open the door to check your wood, it’s pretty easy to start a fire in the bottom. Wood that is soaked to the center really helps.

–The first time you use it, turn the dial to low and let it heat up. You may be temped to crank it up, but the element will stay on without occasionally turning off — good way to start a fire.

–Unplug before spraying hose in bottom to put out fire. You’ll end up wandering around the house trying to find which GFI circuit your patio outlet was piggy-backing on.

Cons;

–The thermometer is a “Low/Ideal/High” type – completely worthless. I drilled a hole in my 5030 for a large dial thermometer, but no such luck with stainless. You’ll definitely want to keep a thermometer inside, either wireless or wire pinched under the lid, if you care about temps like I do.

–The bottom rack is very awkward to get in and out, especially with anything on it. The top rack supports get in the way.

–The body does not detach from the base making it difficult to clean out the ashes. I recommend letting it cool and using the shop-vac.

–The 2 racks won’t fit nearly as much meat as you may think. A cabinet style smoker is for you if you want to cook for more than a small get-together.

Overall I’m actually pretty happy with this smoker. Sure, it’s not a giant competition rig, but for 200 bucks it’s hard to beat. This is my go-to backyard smoker.

5 Stars MELCO 5029 Stainless Steel Electric Water Smoker
The smoker was delivered as promised. It took around an hour to assemble it while I was having my morning coffee. If you are in a hurry, just buy your meats from the market already smoked.

So far I have smoked beef tri-tip with apple wood, and king salmon with cherry wood. Both turned out fantastic.

Beef takes a few hours and the fish takes around one hour; of course it depends on size and temperature, etc. It is nice that I only need to add wood chips and turn the electric thermostat on without the need for charcoal.

5 Stars Pleased as punch
Very happy with the Meco 9359W….rotisserie works fantastic…..grill is easy. Pleased with the results of chicken, steak and fish. Will use it on a regular basis…..more fun than the kitchen oven. Tasty and juicy and handy. No charcoal or propane to buy….just plug it in and you’re ready.

5 Stars “GREAT”
I wish i had bought an electric Bar-B-Q years ago. What a difference in taste/ease of cooking/and $$$ saving. I would never again use propane or charcoal. This is the “GREATEST” purchase of this summer.

4 Stars Expectations met
So far, the Meco Electric Grill has met our expectations. We are condo owners and there is a restriction on gas grills. We have not been able to determine a significant difference in taste on meats cooked on the electric grill versus a gas grill. Cleaning is not as easy as we would like but I don’t think any grill can be made to be easily cleaned. We are very pleased after having and using the grill for about 3 weeks.Meco 9325 Deluxe Electric Cart Grill, Satin Black

5 Stars Great product
I live in a condominium where we are not allowed gas grills. I had a previous version of this grill and always loved it. I like the fact that you could put briquettes on the bottom grate so after it is used a few times, the drippings help make the food taste more like actual gas/charcoal grilling. I love it!
