Char Broil Patio Caddie Gas Grill

For apartment dwellers with limited outdoor space, Char-Broil created their Patio Caddie grills. Compact yet efficient, the propane grill offers 187 square inches of cooking space, ideal for small households or as a vacation home grill. Activated by a push-button electronic ignition, a 10,000 BTU burner roasts mesquite chicken or a half-dozen bratwurst.
The freestanding grill’s body features porcelain-steel construction that resists rusting. Equipped with heavy-gauge porcelain cooking grids, the grill distributes heat evenly while cleaning with ease. A grease catcher collects drippings for simple disposal. Char-broil employed their patented Thermsulate lining to ensure steady temperatures, which can be monitored on the temperature gauge. The grill lid also includes thermostatic handles. The grill’s body is supported by a sturdy plastic base and can be moved to and fro on the wheels implemented on two of the grill’s legs. For the best care, clean the grates with a mild detergent and avoid use of steel wool and other abrasives. The grill affixes to either an 11-1/2- or 20- pound propane tank. This item requires assembly and necessitates the use of a Phillips screwdriver, wrench and pliers. Hardware is enclosed with the thorough assembly instructions. The Patio Caddie also comes in electric models. A five-year limited warranty covers the main body of this grill while a one-year warranty protects smaller parts. The grill measures 22 by 16-3/4 by 44 inches and weighs 52 pounds upon shipping. Propane tank not included.–Jessica Reuling

4 Stars very good small sized grill
I’ve had this grill about a year now. I would have rather not had to assemble it, but once it was together, it worked great. I wish there were some hooks for grilling utensils, or a fold out shelf to put things on, but otherwise it’s perfect.
5 Stars Second One..Still Great
I’ve had one of these for about 10 years – one of the old black ones. It is really great for my wife and I (and the occasional small party) and we use it every week all year long. The bottom finally fell out and the heat distribution plate was so warped and corroded, it was unrecognizable. Plus, since the bottom was falling out, there were no “risers” to hold it up above the burner. I read other reviews that talked about the new units being manufactured with less quality than the old ones so I was concerned about buying a new one blindly. I finally found a local “big box” hardware store that carried them so I could see one of the new ones first hand. There are some differences – for instance, the grill in the new one is round wire vs. the flat porcelain coated one that came with my old one. But overall, the same design and there actually some minor improvements, like the hooks for the lid. So I bought the one at the “big box store” – $125 plus tax so it was about $7 more but I had it in my hands today. I meticulously assembled the new one and used my old grill (kept the new one wrapped in cardboard for a rainy day). I “seasoned” it for a while on full blast heat and experienced none of the blistering or breaking of the enamel paint referenced in other reviews. Just cooked some burgers and they were great. Looking forward to another 10 years…
4 Stars The Grill Guy
Whoever wrote the instructions for this grill should live in China …. Ah maybe that’s my problem ! I would like 10 minutes alone with instruction writer !
4 Stars Great BBQ for Condo or Apartment
So far i love this bbq. Gives you the same hieght as full size bbq but in half the size.
3 Stars Heats up fast! – Enamel chips easily – parts should be stainless steel
After reading almost every review on this site and seeing it in the store. I purchased one.
Nicely packaged.
Parts, like the screws, nuts and bolts are painted steel. I can see them rusting in a couple months of being outside. I like others have changed out all them with stainless or brass parts from a hardware store. I feel much better about the grill staying outside now. It will cost around $20 for all the parts.
First, the directions are strange, they ask for you to mount the handle on the side, I really liked the picture of the handle on the front so I did it that way.
While putting the caddie together, you bolt some pieces directly to the enamel, this causes the enamel to shatter and chip off. It is not as strong as sink enamel, this stuff chips easily. I had to purchase a can of hunters green paint to go over the cracks. So, my advice is to not screw in everything tightly until the very last moment.
This CAN hold a standard 5gallon gas tank.
The heating element works amazingly well, I was skeptical, but it does work nicely!
The actual grilling surface consists of round grates, not flat ones, I like the round much better.
Cleaning the grilling surface is easy. but within the girl, it is quite messy.
Over all this is a great grill. I do almost wish i purchased the stainless steel version. I guess I can wait until this one dies! Enjoy!
