4 Stars MECO ELECTRIC GRILL
We are so happy with this grill! Living in a condo and having it on our deck is the ultimate convenience in grilling. It was easier to assemble than anticipated and the quality of the grill is excellent. Of course the food doesn’t have that “grilled” flavor we were used to, but it’s very good and we’re going to try purchasing “smoked” chips for a different taste. I was a little hesitant ordering a grill on-line, but it was a very good choice and I would highly recommend it.

3 Stars Ok, for electric
I was hoping for more of a grilled flavor with this but it is ok for what it is. You don’t have the dangers of gas or the mess of charcoal. Things cook pretty slow on it too. For the price I wish I had purhased a gas grill instead.

5 Stars Great electric barbecue grill
We moved to a condo a few years ago and could no longer use our gas barbecue. I had no idea that kind of grill was out there…thought electric grills were only George Foreman style. I bought this grill after doing quite a bit of research. We are very happy with it…it is a great alternative to charcoal or gas. It’s also really nice to never worry about running out of propane or charcoal. There are several settings for cooking different types of food. It heats up quickly, cooks quickly and the food tastes grilled. My only problem is that there is quite a bit of smoke…but I guess that just means that it cooks like any barbecue grill. It’s a nice size, wasn’t too hard to put together, and was easy to learn to use. I would totally recommend this product.

4 Stars Meco Electric grill
My husband & I have used electric grills for about 15+ years, and have been very happy with them. No charcoal/starter fluid taste/residue! Nice clean, healthy cooking. Almost all the fat/grease is cooked off so we don’t ingest it. Great taste and cooked food quality.

3 Stars Good product if a gas grill is not an option
This definitely does not char food as well as a gas or charcoal grill, but with experience and trial-and-error, you can get decent results. It’s easy to clean and maintain. Also works pretty well as a smoker if you get some wood chips. Be warned: it’s a bear to assemble. If you can buy it pre-assembled, do it. I’m into my 3rd year with this, and it’s still going strong.

5 Stars Great Performance at a Good Price
First let me say that I am not a cook, But I have gotten nothing but rave reviews on the BBQ briskets and chicken that I have done on this great little smoker. An eight pound brisket fits quite well on the top shelf, while a chicken and some links snuggle on the bottom shelf. I followed the cooking times given in the Meco instruction sheet for all items, and the results are Great! Both mesquite and hickory have yielded excellent flavors. We can’t wait to try some other fruitwoods and rubs.

Given the price of this smoker, I find the quality to be right on. I can, and have, recommended this water smoker to friends and family. It is well made, Very easy to use and very easy to clean up (both grates and the water pan clean up well on the pots-n-pans setting on our dishwasher).

If you are looking for a good, easy-to-use home smoker, look no further … You’ve Found It in the Meco.

1 Star Quality control stinks
The first shipment arrived missing the heating element. The replacement arrived with a damaged bowl. Fortunately I had not yet returned the first one so I managed to cobble one together by combining parts. Assembling was not too bad, given that the manual did not have step by step pictures but only a picture of the overall assembly.

I really can’t comment on the smoker’s performance yet as I have only used it once. At least it didn’t blow a fuse and given the poor quality control exhibited I had my doubts about that.

I will probably keep it unless it fails to perform correctly but I cannot recommend anyone purchase it given the quality control issues.

5 Stars DON’T BUY! – Lasted 9 months: Already THROWN Away – Electrical Problems
I’m editing my review (thanks Amazon) less than a year later (about 9 months) to tell you I’ve already TRASHED this smoker. I have run into the same exact problem other have, namely the dreaded electic element/controller burnout. Don’t believe me? Check out Amazon’s own page on the replacement element (http://www.amazon.com/Meco-Replacement-Heating-Element-Grills/dp/B0000CGEQX/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1247782625&sr=1-1) which gets a two star review by the way. The reviews on the side of the main Meco 5030 page tell the story, as others mention the power problems.

I noticed that the smoker had been having temperature issues and ended up checking the electrode of the heating element. Sure enough, one had cracked completely where it joined the element, and melted (metal) itself so that it wasn’t straight anymore. The electic controller had plastic burn marks at the hole and the conductors where burned as well. I even thought about shelling out the $50 bucks to replace these parts, but then noticed that people were having these issues over and over again, even with the replacments!

If you buy this smoker, you expose yourself to a systematic defect since there seem to be numerous instances of this. I can’t believe this grill didn’t last a year. On top of that, the wire grills are rusted out and have lost their coating and the thermostat is broken as well.

Planned Obsolescence? Perhaps, but they won’t be getting any more of MY money. I’m buying a new smoker: the Old Smokey Electric. So long, Meco. There’s a reason why the smoker gets lots of one and two star reviews.

DON’T BUY!

1 Star Junk!
Total wast of money. Will not heat up enough to cook anything unless you plan to cook it over the course of three to four days. Because the heating element it soo cheap and the fit of the rest of the smoker is loose – it will not hold even enough heat to generate smoke. The design of having a smoking pan at the bottom that is also the base for the heating element just does not work. It even has a hole in the middle of the smoking pan for ???What??? I dont know. Its a water smoker and has a water pan between the element and the meat – so it cant be for a drip cup. Just an all around aweful thing. I went out to Lowes and bought a Brinkman $89 electric water smoker that does a MUCH better job. Amazon should not even sell these as they really are not fit for use. Total garbage and now in the garbage!

2 Stars Not well built
This smoker creates some terrific Bar B Q, but the construction of this smoker is disappointing. After two years of use, we have to replace it. The metal lid warped the first time it was used, which means the lid and body don’t fit together well. The biggest problem, though, is that the electric control is flimsy and must be jiggled constantly or it stops cooking. This smoker was recommended by Cook’s Magazine, and while the food is terrific, poor construction means that after only two years of infrequent use, we have to replace it.

Meco 9300 Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill Satin Black

September 25th, 2009

Meco 9300 Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill Satin Black

Energy efficient, even-cooking, and highly portable, Meco’s Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill features an innovative infrared heating element and 200 square inches of space for cooking up savory hot meals on the fly. A 1,670-watt element emits infrared heat to sear steaks and chicken to tender perfection. Easy-to-control infrared heat cooks evenly without burning. The grill’s variable heat control feature enables instant temperature changes from a steak-searing high to a bread-warming low, so there’s no waiting or preheating. Unlike charcoal grills that emit an unnatural smoke when juice drips on the coal, the infrared element burns off the dripping fats instantly, smoking food with untainted fumes for a natural, savory taste. Plus, with the Meco electric grill, there’s no need for handling flammable lighter fluids or fuel cylinders. The heat reflector is positioned so that it drains excess dripping that might otherwise fuel large, meat-cauterizing flare-ups, though it also retains just enough juice to fuel flames small enough to lightly kiss the meat for a perfect sear. And, there’s plenty of cooking space for large cuts of meat, such as, roasts, thick chops, whole chickens, and fancy burgers with all the trimmings. One more cool feature: A dual level mode simultaneously cooks steaks at different temperatures when one diner prefers his steak rare and the other prefers hers well-done. The dual-level mode also keeps bread warm on one side while chicken bakes on the other.

Along with all these cooking options, Meco designed this electric grill for simple assembly, easy, economical use, and durability. First of all, the grill is made of high quality steel forms and tubing throughout. And, all components are coated with Meco’s quality Dura Fuse powder finish for corrosion resistance and good looks. All critical electrical and mechanical components, including hinges and handles come preassembled, so there’s no major project to face when the box comes. The tabletop and base attach easily with just a few nuts and bolts. Plus, this energy efficient grill costs half the price of gas grills to operate, and is six times cheaper than cooking with a charcoal grill! Best of all, the whole thing fits into most dishwashers for fast and easy cleaning. –Brian Olson

2 Stars OK for small meats
Unit does not get hot enough to cook big steaks (1.5 inch, 1 pound) well unless you like well done and are willing to wait a long time to cook it. We live in a condo and can’t do charcoal or propane, so this electric is the only viable alternative. It’s definitely marginal!!

4 Stars Actually works
Currently living in a condo that does not allow gas or charcoal grills so had to go electric. Past experiences were not very good with other brands but the Meco actually works. Does not get nearly as hot as a gas grill but if you let it heat up for 15 to 20 minutes and do not leave the top open it does a reasonable job. Quick assembly.

5 Stars Meco Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill
Absolutely the BEST in electric grills. This is my third one in nearly 30 years of weekly use outside. Also stored outside–they last forever-almost. Food tastes as good or better than charcoal and cooks much more evenly in less time. Well worth the price!

5 Stars Best affordable condo grill solution
Over the past 10 years, we’re owned most every brand of electric grill, indoor and outdoor (in this price range), but this little Meco is more authentic when it comes to behaving like a REAL grill! Great flavor —easy to use and cook accurately; clean up is simple. Meat AND veggies are “dee-lish” on this grill. Without ANY reservations, we recommend it and have to all our neighbors in our condo community. Amazon has made shopping online so easy for us, it is our # one source for buying this type of household item, and other small appliances.

4 Stars Not A Bad Grill For An Electric
I gave this grill to my son who cannot have an open flame on his apartment patio. I never thought much about electric grills. Always thought gas was the best for cooking. However, my son says he’s very pleased with this grill. It heats up fast and cooks to perfection. It feels substantial and well made except for the base, which could be a little bigger for more stability. If you need or want to BBQ with electric, you should be happy with this grill. Very little assembly.Meco 9300 Deluxe Tabletop Electric Grill, Satin Black

5 Stars Amazingly wonderful!
This grill is wonderful. Even though you can’t tell from the pictures, it is a real outdoor grill, just like a charcoal grill, but electric. I cook everything fron chicken, to fish, to burgers and hotdogs, to grilling vegetables. Even though it is portable, it has ample cooking space. It can also be converted into a charcoal grill. Clean up is easy. I line the bottom with aluminum foil, and use cooking spray on the cooking surfice. It cleans with just a sponge. I highly reccommend this grill, especially for apartment living!

4 Stars wonderful
Cooked steaks on this grill last nite, the first time, and I have to tell you that they turned out so juicy. And tender. Had been cooking on the stove top, and they were always somewhat dry. Not with the grill. Thank you Looking forward to cooking pizzas on it.

4 Stars Good Substitute for Gas or Charcoal
We live in a condominium and local building codes do not allow grills with open flames. This grill is a good alternative. It cooks quickly and the results have the same qualities as if done with real flame with one exception: You do not get the grill marks on the meat like with flame which actually is probably better (fewer carcinogens). One other difference is that this grill has to be cleaned a lot more regularly than an open flame grill since the grease collects in a reservoir.

I would recommend it to anyone who is unable to use gas or charcoal.

5 Stars electric grill, wonderful
We have a patio, and this grill is perfect for us. It works great and we have had lots of grilling since we purchased. I would recommend highly.

4 Stars Great Grill
This was a great purchase for a deck grill – not big and not to small!
